Pass legislation requiring courts to interpret statutes according to their ordinary and plain meaning, and to avoid expanding, modifying or creating legal principles beyond the wording approved by Parliament. Judges must confine to written laws to end with corruption, end of judicial opinions
I have taken cases through the Employment Tribunal, EAT, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. From my experience, judicial interpretation can extend beyond the wording of legislation, leading to outcomes that appear inconsistent with what Parliament enacted. This raises concerns about legal certainty, fairness and accountability. Clear limits on interpretation would strengthen public confidence in the justice system.
