I want the government to make the punishment for the people that chose to abuse, endanger or murder animals that are not of any threat to them much more severe

Additional details

I do not feel that animal lives are taken as seriously and I feel that the punishment for animal abuse related criminal offences are not harsh enough. I think people are significantly more careless when it comes to how they treat an animal in comparison to a human being despite them being more vulnerable (if the animal is not a current threat to them) I think that making these punishments for animal related crimes would help put a stop to animal abuse
